Ingredients
1/2 pound flank steak, thinly sliced
1/2 cup beef broth
1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tbsp hoisin sauce
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp grated fresh ginger
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
2 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp water
4 cups broccoli florets
Sesame seeds and sliced green onions, for garnish
Cooked white or brown rice, for serving
Directions
- Place the sliced flank steak into the crockpot.
- In a bowl, whisk together beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, hoisin sauce, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Pour over the beef.
- Cover and cook on low for 4–5 hours, or until the beef is tender.
- In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water until smooth. Stir the slurry into the crockpot and add the broccoli.
- Cover and cook for another 30 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and the broccoli is tender-crisp.
- Serve over rice, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions.
