Ingredients
1 ½ lbs sliced roast beef (or ground beef if preferred)
1 large onion, sliced
1 tsp garlic powder
2 cups shredded provolone or Swiss cheese
1 ½ cups beef broth (for serving)
2 tbsp butter or olive oil
Salt and pepper
Optional: fresh thyme or parsley for garnish
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- In a skillet, melt butter and sauté onions until soft and caramelized, about 10–12 minutes.
- Add roast beef and garlic powder. Stir to combine and warm through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Spread mixture in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and top with shredded cheese.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and golden.
- Meanwhile, heat beef broth in a saucepan for dipping.
- Serve casserole slices with warm au jus on the side.
