Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs sliced roast beef (or ground beef if preferred)

  • 1 large onion, sliced

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 2 cups shredded provolone or Swiss cheese

  • 1 ½ cups beef broth (for serving)

  • 2 tbsp butter or olive oil

  • Salt and pepper

  • Optional: fresh thyme or parsley for garnish

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • In a skillet, melt butter and sauté onions until soft and caramelized, about 10–12 minutes.
  • Add roast beef and garlic powder. Stir to combine and warm through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Spread mixture in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and top with shredded cheese.
  • Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and golden.
  • Meanwhile, heat beef broth in a saucepan for dipping.
  • Serve casserole slices with warm au jus on the side.
