Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • 1 ½ cups BBQ sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)

  • ½ cup chicken broth

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional, for a sweeter sauce)

Directions

  • Place the chicken breasts in the slow cooker.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and brown sugar (if using).
  • Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken, ensuring it is well coated.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and easy to shred.
  • Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred it. I love using my meat shredder, but two forks works as well.
  • Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker, stirring to coat it in the sauce. Let it sit on warm for 15-20 minutes to absorb more flavor.
  • Serve on toasted buns, in tacos, or over rice. Enjoy!
