Ingredients

  • 3 lbs beef chuck roast

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)

  • 1/2 cup beef broth

  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard

  • 1/2 tsp liquid smoke (optional, but adds great depth)

  • 6 sandwich buns

  • Coleslaw (optional, for serving)

Directions

  • Season the chuck roast with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
  • Place the roast in the slow cooker and pour in the BBQ sauce, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, and liquid smoke.
  • Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the beef is fall-apart tender.
  • Shred the beef with two forks and stir it back into the sauce. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to absorb all the flavors.
  • Toast the sandwich buns if desired, then pile the BBQ beef onto each bun.
  • Top with coleslaw for a crunchy contrast, or serve as is with extra BBQ sauce.
