Ingredients
2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 ½ cups BBQ sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
½ cup chicken broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional, for a sweeter sauce)
Directions
- Place the chicken breasts in the slow cooker.
- In a bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and brown sugar (if using).
- Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken, ensuring it is well coated.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and easy to shred.
- Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred it. I love using my meat shredder, but two forks works as well.
- Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker, stirring to coat it in the sauce. Let it sit on warm for 15-20 minutes to absorb more flavor.
- Serve on toasted buns, in tacos, or over rice. Enjoy!
