Ingredients
2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
2 cups broccoli florets, lightly steamed
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded (reserve a bit for topping)
1 cup cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup chicken broth (preferably low sodium)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter for added richness
Optional garnish: Fresh chopped parsley
Directions
- Preheat Oven: Adjust your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a medium-sized baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Prepare the Broccoli: Lightly steam the broccoli florets until they’re tender-crisp. This ensures they are fully cooked in the casserole and mix well with other flavors.
- Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, steamed broccoli, softened cream cheese, chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir until thoroughly mixed.
- Assemble the Casserole: Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle the reserved cheddar cheese evenly over the top to cover.
- Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese on top is bubbly and golden brown.
- Serve: Allow the casserole to cool slightly, then garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving for added color and freshness.
