
5. Use the Right Amount of Liquid

Too much liquid is one of the biggest mistakes in slow cooker recipes. Unlike stovetop cooking, a crockpot doesn’t allow for evaporation, so excess broth, wine, or sauce can leave your dish watery and flavorless. Instead, use just enough liquid to cover the main ingredients, and if you need to thicken the sauce later, remove the lid for the last 30 minutes of cooking to let some of the moisture escape.
